QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent.
Meets the highly qualified definition in one of the following areas.
- A score of 450 on the ParaPro Assessment.
OR
- Proof of completion of 48 college credit hours including the 18 hour general education requirement which includes English Composition(3) English/Reading(6), and Mathematics (6).
OR
- Earned a two-year Associate’s Degree from a state approved institution.
Demonstrates competence using a computer.
Additional criteria as the Board may establish.

JOB GOAL: To effectively and efficiently provide instructional assistance to students based on school goals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs duties under the supervision and direction of the classroom teacher and the principal
- Monitors children’s progress to ensure that the teacher’s instructions are being followed and provides assistance as needed.
- Has a working knowledge of computer usage and other forms of technology.
- Duplicates and prepares instructional materials.
- Assists teacher in instructional and non-instructional duties (i.e. meals, bus-loading routines, duty, transporting and supervising students.)
- Assists teacher with control of student behavior and discipline.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with students.
- Participates in appropriate staff development and inservice training.
- Demonstrates willingness to accept responsibility.
- Assists teacher in the day-to-day operations of the class.
- Promotes and implements Positive Behavior Support model.
- Performs any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent and/or evaluator.
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS:

- Reports to job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor.
