SUPERVISES: As assigned by Director

 

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months

 

PAY FACTOR: 1.161 - 1.250 (based on size of school)

 

JOB GOAL: To assist and support the Director in providing vision, culture, and instructional leadership that efficiently and effectively results in increased student achievement.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

DOMAIN 1:SCHOOL VISION

  • Sets ambitious, data-driven goals and a vision for achievement; invests teachers, students and other stakeholders in that vision
  • Uses vision and analysis of multiple types of data to set goals
  • References goals and/or vision in all meetings/planning sessions
  • Consistently connects goals and/or vision to the day-to-day work of the school
  • Actively engages stakeholders in the school’s vision for achievement
  • Shares specific ways families and stakeholders can support learning
  • Consistently addresses staff or stakeholders who contradict the vision by displaying low or negative expectations
  • Aligns resources: time, human and, when appropriate, fiscal to create and uphold systems that further the school’s learning goals
  • Develops and implements systems that maximize instructional time by generating strategic schedules and calendars

DOMAIN 2: SCHOOL CULTURE

  • Facilitates collaboration between teams of teachers
  • Provides opportunities for professional growth and develops a pipeline of teacher leaders
  • Creates and upholds systems which result in a safe and orderly school environment
  • Reviews student learning data to improve instructional effectiveness and alignment to the BESE approved academic standards
  • Maintains conditions for collaboration by ensuring teachers have clear expectations for collaborative time
  • Uses data gathered through observations and student assessments to determine what development activities or instructional strategies will best meet the needs of each individual teacher to improve overall teacher effectiveness
  • Improves teacher effectiveness by providing opportunities for professional growth and on-going supports
  • Tracks progress to determine teacher effectiveness and adjusts development opportunities accordingly
  • Develops a pipeline of teacher leaders to provide additional support to teachers in the school by identifying mid-and high-performing teachers and developing their leadership skills and creating opportunities for them to take on additional responsibilities
  • Confirms the learning environment is conducive to learning
  • Implements systems to ensure physical and social-emotional safety is maintained for students and adults
  • Develops clear expectations for student and adult behaviors based on the school values and beliefs
  • Identifies clear positive and negative consequences
  • Develops systems to ensure every adult understands their role in implementing both positive and negative consequences are consistently implemented
  • Supervises facilities equipment management and maintenance and confirms the physical environment is safe

DOMAIN 3: INSTRUCTION

  • Observes teachers and provides feedback on instruction regularly
  • Ensures teachers set clear, measurable objectives aligned to the BESE approved academic standards
  • Ensures teachers use assessments reflective of the rigor of BESE approved standards
  • Completes, or ensures a system is in place to complete, formal and informal observations
  • Ensures observations occur multiple times a year with staff getting regular, consistent, and actionable feedback grounded in the NIET Best Practices
  • Focused on improving teacher effectiveness and student outcomes
  • Ensures that new and/or developing teachers receive additional formative observations
  • Completes a rigorous evaluation process based on a review of teacher practice
  • Supervises Assistant Principals and assigned teachers & staff
  • Performs any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent and/or evaluator.



DOMAIN 4: PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

  • Maintains good attendance.
  • Reports to work on time.
  • Displays professional ethics on and off duty.
  • Adheres to all Iberville Parish School Board’s Policies
  • Reports to job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for implementation of emergency procedures.
  • Seeks and maintains a positive attitude of promoting school and community relations.
  • Participates in and promotes harmonious working relationships with students, colleagues, parents and community members.
  • Attends meetings as directed.
  • Serves on task force and decision-making committees, when appropriate.
