QUALIFICATIONS:   High school diploma or equivalent, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, thorough knowledge of standard practices, tools and terminology of one of the skilled trades and working knowledge of one or more of the other trades. Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.

EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months

 

PAY FACTOR: Non-Applicable

 

JOB GOAL:   To monitor and make repairs of physical assets to keep the facilities in a proper and safe working condition.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Ensure that all health and safety codes are properly applied
  • As a carpenter, repairs, builds, alters and finishes structures, equipment, facilities and furniture made of or containing wood products, and installs or fixes metal and nonmetal fixtures.
  • As a painter, mixes paints, varnishes and calcimines, and prepares surfaces for painting, erects scaffolds and applies paint and hot water heaters.
  • As an electrician, installs, repairs or maintains tubes, bulbs, switches, ballasts, breakers, conduits and electrical motors.
  • As a locksmith, repairs, installs and replaces locks, and makes keys; keeps records of work accomplished and cleans up after work is completed.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance. Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
  • Gathers and removes litter.
  • Performs any additional duties assigned by superintendent and/or evaluator.
